SolarDirect guide

Compare the scope. Not just the price.

Two “3 kW systems” can be very different offers. Put the quotations on the same basis before comparing their totals.

Check the capacity definition.

Ask whether the quoted capacity refers to the panels’ DC nameplate rating or the inverter’s AC output. Confirm the panel count and model wattage. A per-kW figure is only useful when its denominator is clear.

Use the same tax and subsidy basis.

Compare pre-subsidy prices with pre-subsidy prices. Establish whether tax, transport, installation, documentation and commissioning are included. Do not treat a possible subsidy as cash already received.

Match the equipment and installation scope.

Record exact module, inverter and battery models, mounting structure, included cable lengths, protection equipment, civil work, roof modifications and monitoring. Ask which extra work is chargeable after the survey.

Read the assumptions behind generation.

Ask for the location, orientation, tilt, shading assumptions and system losses used in a generation estimate. An annual energy estimate is not a promise of annual bill savings.

Compare support, not just hardware.

Review workmanship cover, maintenance visits, cleaning obligations, replacement support and complaint handling. A longer headline warranty may still have important exclusions.

Keep the source and date.

Use dated written quotations, not screenshots without context. Confirm quotation validity before accepting an offer. SolarDirect’s indicative prices are a starting point for questions, not a replacement for a project-specific quotation.
